On May 2, 2017, in the Queen Anne’s County Circuit Court, Bradley Cheers Kornegay, age 33 from New Castle, Delaware, entered a plea of guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana. The plea agreement stems from a traffic stop on December 4, 2016 in which a Maryland State Trooper stopped Kornegay for speeding. During the course of the stop, Mr. Kornegay was found to be in possession of 113.9 grams (about 1/4 pound) of marijuana. Kornegay was subsequently sentenced on July 11, 2017 to five years in prison, with all but a year suspended. Korneygay will serve the one year of active incarceration at the Queen Anne’s County Detention Center and will be on supervised probation for three years following his release.
Kornegay faces additional felony drug and motor vehicle charges in Kent County, Maryland, which is currently scheduled to take place in August, 2017. Kornegay has a criminal history of drug possession and theft. He has also been convicted of driving while impaired and driving on a suspended or revoked license in the past.
Deputy State’s Attorney Christine Dulla-Rickard handled this matter.
