41 year old Jeffrey James Taylor was convicted by a Queen Anne’s County Jury on December 16, 2016 on two counts of second degree assault following a trial in the Circuit Court. Mr. Taylor was also on probation for prior assault and theft convictions when he committed this crime. Sentencing was held in the Circuit Court on January 3, 2017 at which time Mr. Taylor was also found in violation of his probation. Taylor was then sentenced to a total of twelve and a half years in prison.
On September 23, 2016 an employee from Ledo’s Pizza called 911 to report a man (later identified as Taylor) acting suspiciously near an employee’s car. Taylor was seen entering the co-workers car. While awaiting police arrival the two employees attempted to make contact with Taylor. Taylor then took off running and the employees gave chase on foot, running behind the shopping center. During the chase Taylor stopped, turned around and punched the male employee in the throat. Mr. Taylor then got on top of the male employee and continued punching him. A female co-worker tried to assist her co-worker at which time Taylor punched her in the face, chest and back of the head. All of these actions were captured on the open 911 phone line. Police subsequently arrived and were able to apprehend Taylor.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy State’s Attorney Michael Cuches.
