On June 6, 2025, Stephanie Marie Weddell, age 36, of Centreville, Maryland was convicted by a jury of Resisting Arrest, Obstructing & Hindering, Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace, and Speeding. The incident took place in November of 2024 in the area of MD Route 304 and Fog Well Road in Centreville. After obtaining a speed reading of 86 MPH in a 50 MPH zone, a Maryland State Police Trooper attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop on Weddell’s Chevrolet Camaro. Weddell continued driving until her vehicle ultimately came to rest in the driveway of her home, located in a popular residential neighborhood in Queen Anne’s County.
Weddell’s immediate reaction to the traffic stop was riddled with hostility and aggression. Barricading herself and her two minor children inside her vehicle, Weddell berated the Trooper with sexually explicit obscenities through a slim crack in the driver’s side window. She repeatedly revved her engine and blew the horn of her vehicle repeatedly until additional police units arrived.
The pandemonium in an ordinarily quiet neighborhood drew residents from inside their homes to the edge of Weddell’s property, some of whom recorded the incident. After roughly 30 minutes and multiple police units on scene, Weddell ultimately exited her vehicle and was placed under arrest and charged accordingly.
Following a guilty finding on all counts presented to the jury, Weddell was held without bail for 34 days pending sentencing. On July 9, 2025, the Honorable Mickey J. Norman sentenced Weddell to the following: 4 and ½ years to the Division of Corrections, fully suspended; 34 days of active incarceration to the Queen Anne’s County Detention Center with credit for time served; and a $500 fine. Weddell was also placed on 18 months of supervised probation with the special condition that she is not permitted to drive a motor vehicle for 1 year.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney, Jessica L. Davidson and Deputy State’s Attorney, Christine Rickard.
