On August 28, 2024, David Delroy Jones, III of Brooklyn, Maryland entered pleas of guilty in the Queen Anne’s County Circuit Court to Illegal Possession of a Firearm and Two Counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute.  The Hon. C. Lynn Knight sentenced Mr. Jones to the maximum sentence of three five-year terms, consecutive, suspending all but five years to serve, with five years of supervised probation to follow incarceration. Judge Knight earlier denied Defendant’s motion to suppress evidence after testimony was taken during a contested hearing on June 18, 2024.

This conviction is based on a March 17, 2024, incident in which Mr. Jones was located at the Royal Farms in Queenstown.  He was intoxicated and needed a ride. CPL A. Patchett of the Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff offered Mr. Jones a ride but searched him and his bag prior to the ride and located a felony amount of Dimethylpentylone or “Molly” which is a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance, a felony amount of Methamphetamine which is a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance, and a loaded handgun.  Further investigation by the Queen Anne’s County Drug Task Force revealed that these drugs were intended for distribution.  Additionally, Mr. Jones is prohibited from possessing a firearm due to his criminal history.

Because of this conviction, Mr. Jones is facing nine additional years to serve on a violation of probation in a Baltimore City Circuit Court Case.

Christine Dulla Rickard, Deputy State’s Attorney, prosecuted Mr. Jones.
