On October 26, 2023, Defendant Donald Rayfield Handy of Grasonville entered a plea of guilty to Possession with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine. He was sentenced on December 19, 2023 to 15 years, execution of that sentence suspended as to all but ten years to serve, with 36 months to follow his release from incarceration. This conviction violates Mr. Handy’s parole for a similar conviction in 2018; a parole hearing is scheduled for February 12, 2024 and he is facing the balance of a 14 year sentence.
This case was investigated by the Queen Anne’s County Task Force, comprised of members from the Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff and the Maryland State Police and supported by a number of allied agencies. On February 2, 2023, police executed a search warrant at Mr. Handy’s home located at 200 Grasonville Cemetery Road in Grasonville and on his vehicles. Police seized over 500 grams of cocaine, three vehicles, and over $20,000.00 in United States currency. Mr. Handy forfeited the vehicles and money as part of his plea.
Christine Dulla Rickard, Deputy State’s Attorney prosecuted this case.
