On May 27, 2016 a Maryland State Trooper attempted to stop a motorcycle for speeding in the area of Rt. 18 at Rt. 8 in Stevensville, Maryland. The motorcycle failed to stop for the Trooper and increased its speed as it entered Rt. 50 and onto the westbound lanes of the Bay Bridge. The motorcycle gained speeds upwards of 110 miles per hour while fleeing the Trooper. Later in the evening police made contact with the operator, Shane Reeder, and formally charged him with fleeing and eluding police.
On September 23, 2016 Mr. Reeder entered a guilty plea to fleeing and eluding and was sentenced to one year of active incarceration at the Queen Anne’s County Detention Center. Mr. Reeder also received an additional 17 month sentence, to be served after the completion of the 1 year sentence, for violating probation in another case.
Assistant State’s Attorney Jennifer Doud prosecuted this case.
