A Queen Anne’s County jury convicted Warren Gardner Hoyt, II of Chestertown on burglary and related offenses stemming from a September 7, 2015 burglary in which Hoyt stole a firearm.

Maryland State Police Sergeant Andrew Williams testified during the trial about the investigation he conducted linking Hoyt to the burglary and the handgun stolen from the residence.  Sgt. Williams investigation revealed that Hoyt had burglarized a residence in Queen Anne’s County and stole a .22 caliber revolver during the burglary.  Hoyt then traveled to Dover, Delaware where the handgun was traded in a drug transaction to purchase cocaine.

Hoyt was convicted of Third Degree Burglary, Illegal Possession of a Firearm after having been previously convicted of a disqualifying crime,  and theft.  Hoyt was also on probation for a previous crime when this crime was committed.  Hoyt will be sentenced for this crime in March, 2016 and will also have the hearing for violation of probation at that time.
