Kimberly Kelley, 32, of Centreville, Maryland appeared in the Queen Anne’s County Circuit Court on November 17, 2014 and entered a guilty plea to theft greater than $1,000 but less than $10,000.  The plea was based on a 2013 complaint filed by a homeowner who entered into a rental contract with Kelley.  Kelley signed a rental contract to move into the homeowner’s residence and subsequently paid her security deposit and first months rent with a check.  The check was not honored by the bank it was later learned that Kelley had issued the check on a closed account.  Sentencing was scheduled for March 3, 2015.

On March 3, 2015 Kelley was sentenced in the Queen Anne’s County Circuit Court to 10 years incarceration with eight and a half years of that sentence suspended.  Kelley will be required to serve 18 months incarceration and upon her release will be placed on five years of supervised probation.  It was noted by Deputy State’s Attorney Christine Dulla Rickard during the sentencing hearing that Kelley has an extensive record of passing bad checks and theft.
