On August 7, 2025, Wendy Gail Jones of Easton entered a plea of guilty Three Counts of Second-Degree Assault to three separate children for whom she provided daycare as a provider at Kiddie Academy in Stevensville. On September 25, 2025, Ms. Jones was sentenced to 10 years, execution of the sentence suspended as to all but six months to serve, per count, consecutive. Upon her release from incarceration, Ms. Jones will be on supervised probation which will include 50 hours of community service.
The investigation began in February of 2025 when a complaint was made to the Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff about an incident that occurred in December of 2024 involving a 13-month-old. The incident was caught on surveillance footage and shown to the police. The investigation revealed two additional children, also under the age of two, that were assaulted by Ms. Jones while in her care. While none of these incidents caused any physical injury, they were aggressive and rough.
This matter was investigated by the Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Unit. Their time and attention to this matter gave a voice to young children who were unable to communicate or stand-up for themselves and certainly protected them (and others) from future harm.
